Building a quieter website
For a small personal site, fewer dependencies make the work calmer.
This version starts with plain HTML files served by Nginx. One stylesheet handles the layouts, and interactive tools share one local JavaScript file. There is no package manager on the request path and nothing to compile before a spelling correction can go live.
Local by default
Fonts use the visitor's system. Icons are text or a small local SVG. Pages do not wait for a font host, analytics endpoint, tag manager, or client framework before becoming readable.
Operations count too
Quiet also means predictable maintenance. TLS renewal is automated, the site is backed up before changes, and a failed configuration check prevents a reload. A plain directory is easy to archive and restore.
Where JavaScript belongs
The timestamp and JSON tools need it, so they use it. Articles and navigation do not. The dividing line is simple: if removing JavaScript would only remove decoration, I leave the script out.
